Short-Bio

Katrin Metzger is PhD student at extractivism.de at University of Kassel. She focuses her research on lithium mining companies in the highlands of Chile, Argentina, and Bolivia. She studied Latin American and Ancient American Studies and German as a Second and Foreign Language at University of Bonn and at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, as well as Cultural and Social Anthropology at the University of Marburg. She regionally concentrates her research on Latin America, especially on the Andean region and southern Chile, where she undertook field research. Her thematic interests are in environmental and conflict anthropology, postcolonialism and decolonisation theories, as well as material culture.
